Join the Action!  Play in the Masters Squash 2024 National Championships

Are you passionate about squash? Will you be over 35 years of age on 1 September 2024?
Are you keen to challenge yourself against more than just the usual ACT based opponents?

Then the upcoming 2-13 September 2024 National Championships in Canberra is for you!

What is Master’s Squash and the National Championships?

Master’s squash is for people over the age of 35 years.

Each year, Masters squash players from all over Australia come together for the National Championships.  The event is a prominent fixture in the Australian squash calendar. This year the ACT is hosting the Championships and they will be held in Canberra. The championships attract some of the best Masters squash players in Australia, ensuring high-level competition and exciting matches for spectators.

The championships are divided into two segments: Individuals Week and Teams Week. Play occurs during the week, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm.

Why Play?

Individuals Week offers a vibrant mix of competitive play and camaraderie. Players compete individually, focusing on personal performance and skill.

Matches are gender based, by age group (5 year brackets) and also based on skill divisions; this ensures a balanced and inclusive competition.

Individuals Week is for seasoned veterans and newer players alike. Players are guaranteed at least 3 matches over the course of the week, with many having 4 or even 5 matches. The finals culminate in national titles for the best performers in each age group and division.

The commitment is to play, and then stay to referee/score the following match – so up to 2 hours per day.

Teams Week offers players an exciting and collaborative experience, centered around team dynamics, strategic play and collective effort. It is State against State! Players can expect a structured and energetic week.

Teams are organised according to skill division. Your will play in uniform a mixed team of four with 3 other ACT players of a similar standard. Each day you will play another team in the same division; with a guaranteed five days of play.

The collective achievement results in the awarding of national titles to the best teams in each division.

The commitment is to play your match and support your teammates. Joint team suppers occur after the matches – the commitment is 3-4 hours each day of the week.

Off court

Off-court activities and amenities are also a highlight, offering relaxation and entertainment to complement the competition. The Championships foster a strong community spirit, with social gatherings, dinners, and opportunities to network with fellow players from across the country.

Overall, Individuals Week and Teams Week at the Australian Masters Squash National Championships promises you a memorable experience, blending enjoyable, competitive squash with social interaction.
